For HVAC Service Technicians ·
What you'll accomplish
By the end of this guide, you'll know how to use Claude or ChatGPT to generate smart parts pre-pull lists based on your scheduled jobs — so you leave the shop stocked for the day instead of making emergency supply house runs that blow your schedule and your customer's patience.
What you'll need
Before you leave for the night, check your next day's jobs in your FSM app (ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, etc.). Note:
You don't need a full job description — just the job type is enough.
Go to claude.ai or chat.openai.com on your phone or computer. Log in (free accounts work fine for this).
Type a message like this:
"I'm an HVAC service technician. Tomorrow I have: 2 residential AC maintenance tune-ups, 1 no-cool diagnostic, 1 furnace service call, and 1 thermostat replacement. I'm in Texas in summer (95°F+ ambient). What common parts should I pre-pull from stock and load into my van tonight to be prepared for these jobs?"
You'll get a categorized list of common parts to have on hand, organized by job type. For the tune-ups: extra filters, capacitor range, contactor. For the no-cool: capacitors, contactors, start kits, refrigerant equipment. For the furnace: igniter, flame sensor, pressure switches.
What you should see: A practical, organized list of parts — not exhaustive, but focused on the high-probability items that would otherwise require a supply house run.
Scan the list against what you already have in your van. Add the gaps to your supply house pickup or shop pull list. You're done in 5 minutes.
