What you'll accomplish
By the end of this guide, you'll have Bluon's MasterMechanic AI installed on your phone and know how to use it when you're stuck on a call with unfamiliar equipment. Instead of spending 20-30 minutes digging through PDFs and forum posts, you'll get HVAC-specific diagnostic answers in under a minute — from an AI trained on over 50,000 real tech support calls.
What you'll need
What you should see: The Bluon app icon appears on your home screen after installation.
What you should see: The Bluon home screen with access to the app features including MasterMechanic.
What you should see: A clean chat interface similar to text messaging, with a text input at the bottom.
Type your question in plain language — exactly like you'd describe the problem to another tech on the phone:
"Trane XR15 showing Code 89. Compressor short cycling. Outdoor temp 95°F. System was charged 2 years ago."
Tap send and wait 5-10 seconds.
What you should see: A detailed response explaining what Code 89 means, the most likely causes, and what to check in order. Troubleshooting: If the response seems off, add more detail about the equipment age, last service, and what you've already checked.
MasterMechanic is conversational — you can follow up:
What you should see: Each follow-up gets a contextual answer based on your previous messages in the same conversation.
For answers you'll want to reference again:
For fault codes: "[Brand/model] showing fault code [X]. System [symptom]. What does this code mean and what should I diagnose first?"
For no-cool/no-heat: "[Brand/model], [age] years old. [No cooling / no heating]. Compressor [running/not running]. Capacitor [tested good/not tested]. What's the diagnostic sequence?"
For refrigerant questions: "What's the target superheat and subcooling for a [brand/model] running in [outdoor temp]°F ambient with [refrigerant type]?"
For unfamiliar equipment: "I've never worked on a [brand/model]. What are the most common failure points and what should I check proactively on a first visit?"
For commissioning new equipment: "What are the startup checks and verification steps for a new [brand/model] [heat pump/AC/furnace]?"
